Something Wicked

In the spirit of Halloween let’s take a journey down memory lane back to 2006, when Halloween’s own “Mistress of the Dark”, Elvira actress Cassandra Peterson partnered with Out of the Closet Thrift Stores for the Something Wicked campaign.

The campaign featured Elvira in several different promotional ads for Out of the Closet for the entire month of October. In late September, Elvira would also host the Something Wicked Auction and Fashion Show as an early celebration of the spooky season.

The event was held at the CIA, the clever nickname for the California Institute of Abnormal Arts, a nightclub that doubled as a sideshow museum. The show featured revamped costumes by L.A. designers that were available for auction and for purchase in Out of the Closets thrift stores.

Notable auction items included gift baskets filled with Elvira merch and Movie Macabre DVD set, autographed memorabilia from rock legend Alice Cooper, a Swarovski crystal condom compact exclusively designed by artist Simone Wright for Just in Case Inc. with only two of its kind in existence- Elvira holds the other one.

The grand finale of the auction showcased Bosco, a black and white Boston Terrier from West Hollywood Animal Farm.  All proceeds from the auction benefitted AHF’s testing and treatment programs both locally and globally.
