Out of the Closet Sponsors High-Ball Halloween

In celebration of Out of the Closet’s recent thirty-fifth anniversary and Halloween, we’re traveling back in time to 2013’s Out of the Closet-sponsored High-ball Halloween. High-ball Halloween began in 2008, in the Short North Arts District of Columbus, Ohio.

What started as a one-night affair used to highlight the Battelle Costume Couture Fashion Show was transformed into the nation’s most elaborate costume party. In contrast, Out of the Closet Thrift Store held its grand opening on October 17th, 2013. The built-from-the-ground-up, flagship site also housed AHF Pharmacy and HIV testing, located in the popular Short North District of Columbus. Another notable quality of this location is that it is the first Out of the Closet in the Midwest.

As the newest member of the Short North community, Out of the Closet obligingly co-hosted the highly anticipated Halloween extravaganza. In commemoration of its sixth anniversary, High-Ball extended the celebration to October 25th and 26th.

The event was kicked off with dancing in the streets, featuring bands, an Out of the Closet stage show, and a competition for designers, with Out of the Closet hosting its very own pop-up shop. Throughout the event, sugar skulls y esqueletos, Catrina were featured as a way of paying tribute to Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), as well as the Grim Reaper’s Party stage show. This event was truly to die for!
