AHF is proud to have India’s Crown Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil as an AHF ambassador and has worked with His Highness since 2015 to advocate for LGBT+ rights and access to HIV care in India. Together, the partnership has seen homosexuality decriminalized in India, led Los Angeles’s pride parade and AHF’s “Art Hearts Fashion,” and introduced access to condoms to India’s key populations.
Prince Manvendra is the Grand Ambassador for AHF, Ambassador Consultant for AHF India, and Impulse Group Ambassador. His Highness’s advocacy work continues as the founder of Lakshya Trust, an initiative to support LGBT+ Indian people located on the 15-acre grounds of His Highness’s palace. As the head of Lakshya Trust, Prince Manvendra strives to fight for human and legal rights for the LGBT+ community in India, Asia, and beyond, as well as provide comprehensive sex education and social activities to bring communities together.
As the first openly gay royal in history, His Highness has experienced much of the same conflicts that AHF clients themselves go through, which is reflected in the Prince’s speech and advocacy work at conferences, the Civil 20, and protests with AHF.
The partnership between AHF and Prince Manvendra honors our dedication to both grassroots and high-level advocacy, and together, AHF will continue to work towards equal rights around the world. AHF India Cares was founded in 2004 and currently cares for over 3,000 clients.
